RELATION / WORK, 1978.

Screen printed red and black on white paper. This large poster, 1000 x 700m has folds, chips to edges and a predictably strong presence. Produced on the occasion of the exhibition RELATION / WORK in Ferrara, Italy at Centro Attivita’ Visive, Palazzo Dei Diamanti, 15 October – 12 November 1978.

The performance work involved Abramović and Ulay transporting large stones in metal buckets and by hand across the empty gallery space at Palazzo Dei Diamanti, exploring collective strength. The Relation Work series, 1976 – 1979 began with ‘Relation in Space’, a 1976 performance of the artists running naked into each other with force repeatedly for a duration of one hour to create a third energy.
